Computer Vision Syndrome Can Trigger Dry Eye Disease

Nature’s Tears® EyeMist® Soothes Computer Eyes & Socks Dry Eye Disease. Radio Host Sharon Kleyne Warns Against Excessive Computer Use.

There is no denying that computers have changed the world forever. Not only have they brought people closer together, they have also made it possible to share more information and make more discoveries than ever before. Unfortunately, computers have also done damage on a wide scale to human eyes that stare for hours every day into a computer’s radiation gaze.

According to Sharon Kleyne, host of the nationally syndicated The Sharon Kleyne Hour Power of Water, Global Climate Change and Your Health on VoiceAmerica sponsored by Nature’s Tears® EyeMist® and the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health, computer vision syndrome affects more than 90% of people who spend three or more hours a day at their computers. This vast number of Geeks and casual computer users suffer from headaches, sore necks, blurred vision, chronic eye pain and Dry Eye Syndrome (DES).

All of these afflictions are bad enough, but Dry Eye Syndrome is the number one threat to eye health and a leading precursor of blindness in the world. “Using over-the-counter artificial tear solutions reduces the effects of DES,” says Kleyne, “but they only act temporarily. In fact, in the long run they make matters worse, inflaming the eye by chemically evaporating even more of the eye’s natural water vapor.”

Kleyne has a few suggestions for dealing with Computer Vision Syndrome. She suggests closing one’s eyes for twenty seconds at least every half-hour and focusing on an object twenty feet away at least every twenty minutes. She also advocates elimination of bright overhead lighting and elimination of screen glare.

“Yet,” she adds, “the only proven, non-invasive aid for Dry Eye Syndrome is Nature’s Tears® EyeMist®. Produced by Bio-Logic Aqua® Research Water Life Science®, Nature’sTears® EyeMist® consists of 100% Trade Secret, pure tissue culture grade fresh water delivered to the eyes, with no discomfort or irritation, by a hand-held, personal humidifier that emits a patented micron-size pure, pH balanced, 100% water mist for rehydrating eyes.” Kleyne recommends that computer users keep spray bottles of Nature’s Tears® EyeMist® near computer work stations whether at home, at work or at one’s favorite coffee shop. She also suggests carrying a bottle in the laptop bag when on the road.
