Media Advocate & Director of Global Dragon TV Rose Hong Promotes Natural Health Initiatives

Rose Hong Lives Her Dream Expanding TV Media Imprint. Global Dragon TV Spreads Word about Wellness & Improved Medical Opportunities.

China, perhaps more than any other country in the world, is a nation on the move and no one is more aware of it than the director of Global Dragon TV, Rose Hong http://www.GlobalDragonTV.com. Hong, a first generation immigrant, came to the U.S. as a young student. It almost didn’t happen. In order to make it possible for Hong to come to America, her father and mother depleted their life savings, using the money to buy her a one-way plane ticket. After that, there were just enough funds left to support Hong until her scholarship money kicked in. To this day, Hong refers to her first trip to the U.S. as “a life changing journey”.

From that point on, it was almost as if Hong were on a fast track to success. In the States, Hong diligently worked non-stop, opening windows and doors to the career she wanted most. Enrolling at the University of Maryland’s Graduate School on a full scholarship, Hong studied English literature. Having grown increasingly interested in mass communications and mass media, the enterprising scholar earned a master’s degree in the field. After ther graduation, Hong worked for two decades in international media business and with several federal agencies including the Department of Treasury.

In 1997, Hong’s visionary energy once more took hold. Seeing an ever-growing “need for Chinese and health related media content,” Hong assembled a group of partners and launched Global Dragon TV. Today, Global Dragon TV offers programming seven days a week, 24 hours a day and reaches over 30 countries worldwide. Hong herself hosts and produces two weekly TV shows, American Odyssey and Whole Health Living.

Giving back to the country that has so generously granted her education and scholarship opportunities Hong has adopted is an important part of her life mission.

Hong has participated various medical missions overseas and is a board member of Montero Medical Mission, which provides medical and education outreach by sending US volunteer doctors to locations around the world.

Never forgotten her root and where she came from, Hong’s love and knowledge of Chinese culture heritage and tradition enables her to create a weekly television show “Whole Health Living,” which focuses on using traditional Chinese medicine, nutrition and exercise for disease prevention and wellness.

“China invented paper, silk, rubber, gunpowder and medical practices that changed the world, and will play a vital role in the coming millennium,” Hong said. “My favorite book is a classic, The Art of War by Sun Tsu. Written in the 5th century B.C., The Art of War is studied at West Point and by business leaders all over the planet. It is a philosophy book that is as true now as the day it was written.” Hong also praised a book that all Chinese medical practitioners consult:

“Yellow Emperor’s Inner Canon”, the earliest and most important written work of Traditional Chinese Medicine,
compiled over 2,200 years ago.

“With the aging population and rising costs of medical care worldwide, Chinese medicine’s wisdom and focus on prevention and wellness will help to ease this crisis.” Hong said.

Hong sees China, like the rest of the world, facing a global environmental and water crisis. She is committed to greater education and health opportunities through mass media and is doing much to enhance the lives of viewers everywhere.
